Months had passed since he had left the trappings of his familiar world. He now found himself living among a society that believed in sentimental things. The way he once imagined they all would. The sunrise and the sunset, days continued to come up and go past. Once he found himself walking along a crowded city street, under the scaffolding and above the chipped sidewalks. He stopped, dead in his tracks -- there it was… The one emotion he had yet to completely understand, to encompass, or to reveal.
Before him stood a woman, as ravishing as a daffodil, walking through the crosswalk, her dress cascading in the light fall breeze. Her hair was blonde, and in the late-day sun it almost reflected a goldish-yellow tint. Her eyes were hazel, much akin to the color of sea foam on the shores of the Narragansett.
He brushed the salt from his eyes; desire stampeded through alleyway. He was lost, and found, and resolved, and completely, and utterly -- mute.
He had to know this woman, he had to know her name. He wanted to describe her hair color to his aunt, but he had to know her first. He had to know if he could discover the one mystery that still lay within the depths of being… What was love if not a feeling of distracted rebellion against the soul?
